2016 Audi Q7 e-tron Release Date
The 2016 Audi Q7 e-tron diesel plug-in hybrid is due to arrive in early 2016. The German company has already presented the second-generation Q7 at the 2015 NAIAS in Detroit. Understandably, the new model drew a lot of attention from both the visitors and the experts. However, the aforementioned 2016 Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro proved to be an even greater star at the recent Detroit Motor Show.
Many agree that the Q7 in its latest incarnation represents a significantly improved model. To name just a few facts, the 2016 Audi Q7 is 325 kg lighter and up to 26% more efficient than its predecessor. Not only that, Audi’s latest generation of the Q7 SUV offers an impressive range of powerplants. As for the diesel engines, there is a 3-liter TDI unit available in two versions. The gasoline engines come in the form of a 2-liter and a 3-liter TFSI powertrains. The less powerful 3.0 TDI diesel generates 218 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, while the more powerful 3.0 TDI unit churns out 272 hp and 600 Nm of torque. This engine will get you from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, with maximum speed of 235 km/h. The fuel consumption is estimated at 5.7 l/100 km and the CO2 emissions at 149 g/km. The 2.0 TFSI gasoline engine makes 252 hp and 370 Nm, while the 3.0 TFSI produces 333 hp and 440 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds, returns 7.7 l/100 km with the CO2 emissions of 179 g/km. Its top speed is 250 km/h.
2016 Audi Q7 e-tron Specs
The hybrid version of the new Q7 is one of the most interesting vehicles in the segment. Its hybrid system comprises a 3.0 TDI engine, a 94 kW electric motor, 17.3 kWh lithium-ion batteries, quattro AWD and an eight-speed tiptronic transmission. The combined power of the whole system is 374 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in hybrid mode takes 6 seconds, with the top speed of 225 km/h. The 2016 Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro’s all-electric range is 56 km. While maintaining excellent performance, it offers an amazing fuel economy of just 1.7 l/100 km, while emitting only 50 g/km of CO2.
2016 Audi Q7 e-tron SUV Redesign
The new generation comes thoroughly redesigned, with a new platform and different dimensions. Thanks to the MLB Evo platform, the upcoming Q7 will be lighter than its predecessor. The 2016 Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro will be 505 cm long, 197 cm wide and 174 cm tall with the wheelbase of 299 cm. Although the new model is smaller than the outgoing one, it actually offers more interior space. There is noticeably more legroom and headroom. Also, the cargo space is more than impressive but it varies depending on the number of passengers. In case all seven seats are in use, the cargo capacity is 295 liters. When the third row of seats is folded down, the capacity is 890 liters, while the maximum capacity of 2,075 liters can be used in case both the second and third rows are folded down.
Some of the styling cues that underline the design of the 2016 Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro are Xenon and Matrix LED headlights. As for the interior design, it has changed substantially in comparison with the previous generation. The cabin is filled with premium materials and a digital instrument panel that resembles the one found in the new Audi TT model. Apart from the modern design and great quality, the vehicle is equipped with the latest safety features, driver assist systems and infotainment systems.
