2016 Buick Envision Release Date
The Buick Envision concept was first revealed to the public back in 2011. Since the concept’s design featured a lot of futuristic elements, it was widely regarded that this crossover SUV will never become a production-ready model. However, General Motors did go on to present a vehicle for the 2015 MY at the 2014 Chengdu Motor Show in China. The model was originally intended for the Chinese market but the company has announced sales on other world markets as well. According to the recent statements, the 2016 Buick Envision will go on sale in the US. Although we still don’t have an official date, the Envision SUV is very likely to hit the dealerships in the summer of 2015.
The interesting thing is that this new crossover has been rapidly rising in popularity, especially on the US market. The reason might be in the fact that the segment has become attractive for customers of all ages. Younger buyers are attracted mostly by styling and performance, while the older population finds these vehicles exceptionally comfortable and safe. The increasing popularity of the segment in general is what probably encouraged the American company to offer the 2016 Buick Envision to the US buyers as well.
The Envision SUV will slot between the smaller subcompact Encore and the larger three-row seats Enclave model. Whereas the 2015 model is predominantly based on the Envision concept, the 2016 US version will share a lot of its features with the current Chevrolet Equinox model. On the other, some speculate that the new Envision is likely to incorporate certain elements of the 2015 model together with the design cues seen on the Chevy Equinox. The current model is 4667 mm long, 1839 mm wide and 1696 mm tall, while its wheelbase measures 2750 mm. The upcoming model is expected not to stray too far when it comes to dimensions. Of course, it is reasonable to expect a somewhat different engine lineup for the US market.
2016 Buick Envision Specs
The current model is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter gasoline engine. It generates 265 hp and 353 Nm of torque when paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission in an AWD (standard) model. As for the acceleration, it scores decent 8.4 seconds to get from 0 to 60 mph. Also, the model has proven itself as highly efficient returning 8.8 l/60 miles.
The 2016 Buick Envision intended for the US market is likely to offer a wider choice of powerplants under its hood. According to some sources, the anticipated model is supposed to receive Ecotec engines. These small three and four-cylinder units are renowned for their fuel-efficiency. They come mostly as 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter engines. In addition to that, some sources hint at the 2016 Envision Hybrid. The most likely conventional engine that should serve as the base for its hybrid system is the turbocharged 1.5-liter unit that produces 170 hp.
2016 Buick Envision Price
Depending on the trim level, the pricing of the current model ranges from $26,000 to $35,000. The 2016 Buick Envision is expected to stay in the same price range.
