2016 Infiniti QX30 Release Date
Nissan’s Infiniti brand is currently in the process of expanding its model range. At the same time, some of the old models will be replaced. As part of this gradual process, some new entry-level Infiniti models will make its debut during the following year. The 2016 Infiniti QX30 compact crossover will be one of them. Its premiere was in March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. The model is due to go on sale in the second half of 2015.
2016 Infiniti QX30 Concept
The Geneva Motor Show was the place of revealing this SUV’s concept vehicle. The new QX30 SUV is actually the Q30 hatchback’s sibling. Both models will be underpinned by the Mercedes-Benz’s MFA platform. The same platform already underpins the German automaker’s A, B and CLA class. This new platform is a result of a successful cooperation between Nissan and Daimler. The model’s design combines curves and sharp angles, which sets it apart from its European competition. The upcoming QX30 features some of the typical crossover cues, as well as a distinctive rear spoiler. Its swooping lines and roof rails are supposed to make this crossover appealing to a wider customer base.
The new Q30 and QX30 will be built in the UK, at the Nissan’s Sunderland facility. The 2016 QX30 SUV is expected to appeal mainly to younger buyers. Among its European rivals, the most prominent names include the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and MB GLA models.
The cooperation between Nissan and Daimler is not restricted exclusively to the use of the same platform. It is expected, namely, that the 2016 Infiniti QX30 should be equipped with a Mercedes-Benz’s powerplant as well. It is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 211 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The European version of the model is expected to include a diesel unit as well.
The new SUV is due to go on sale in the second half of 2015. At first, it will be available in Europe, while its US deliveries are expected to begin in early 2016.
