2016 Lexus LX 570 Facelift
The latest Toyota Land Cruiser V8 together with its sibling the Lexus LX 570 are scheduled to arrive with a number of updates. While the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 is yet to be premiered, the freshened 2016 Lexus LX 570 has recently made its public debut at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the US.
2016 Lexus LX 570 Changes
The last one of the LX models to receive updates was the 2012 version, whereas the completely redesigned model is most likely to arrive within the next two or three years. In the meantime, the Japanese automaker will offer the facelifted 2016 Lexus LX 570.
As for the most notable visual changes, the new model comes with a more aggressive front grille, redesigned LED and fog lights as well as new front wheel arches. At the back, it gets a revised bumper that now boasts a more modern and attractive look. The rear light clusters have been redesigned too, while the new alloy wheels will be available in 19- and 20-inch sizes.
Internally, the upcoming model also offers a number of minor updates. There will be an enhanced infotainment system that now features a 12.3-inch display. The 2016 Lexus LX 570 will also be available with a rearview camera as part of standard equipment. Other amenities include a head-up display, LED ambient lighting and a redesigned dashboard. Those who opt for the Luxury Package will get a heating and cooling system on the front seats.
2016 Lexus LX 570 Specs and Price
The updated model will once again be powered by the same 5.7-liter V8 engine that makes 383 horsepower and 546 Nm of torque. The list of standard equipment includes AWD and the new 8-speed automatic transmission that replaced the electronically controlled six-speed automatic gearbox. Of course, the biggest downside of the LX 570 remains its very poor fuel economy estimated at 12 city/17 hwy mpg. Unfortunately, not much can be done about this until the next generation of this huge SUV arrives with a new lighter architecture and reduced curb weight.
The 2016 Lexus LX will retain its current pricing that starts at $82,000, with the range-topping model that costs around $90,000. A similar amount of money is needed for its main rival, namely the Cadillac Escalade with Premium trim.
2016 Lexus LX 570 Hybrid
A hybrid version of the LX 570 has been speculated about for quite a while. However, the company hasn’t made any announcements concerning a hybrid model for the 2016 MY. That doesn’t exclude the possibility that such a vehicle could arrive at a later date. If anything, Toyota has been renowned for building hybrid-powered models quite successfully. In case the company does decide to take this step, that would make the LX 570 more appealing to a much larger customer base. If the hybrid version doesn’t make its debut within the next few years, it will certainly arrive with the next-generation model. Until then, the buyers will have to settle for the updated 2016 Lexus LX SUV.
