The GLA-Class was first unveiled to the public at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. This luxury compact crossover was actually derived from the CLA sedan and it came as the Mercedes-Benz’s competitor to the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 crossovers. Now, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA is due to receive several interesting changes and updates.

As you probably know, the compact crossover market is becoming ever more competitive. Therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that most of the notable automakers keep updating their models at an incredible pace. As part of this trend, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA gets new standard equipment such as keyless start and dual-zone climate control. Its thoroughly revised infotainment system is due to receive a new larger 7-inch display, an iPod and MP3 interface as well as optional Garmin Map Pilot. Also, the new rearview camera now shows 180-degree view. The upcoming 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 models will be offered with new Dynamic Select drive mode as well.
Within the Interior package, there will be multi-colored lighting, while the beige-and-black scheme will be replaced by grey leather upholstery. Expect also to see a new dark-trim Night package similar to the one offered with the CLA model.
2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA Engine Specs
2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be offered with two different versions of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The GLA250 gets 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the GLA45 AMG models come with 355 hp and 332 lb-ft of twist. As for the GLA250 variant, it will be available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive 4Matic trim.

Although the aforementioned changes won’t bring anything revolutionary, they should still contribute to the appeal of the upcoming GLA-Class, especially when it comes to the base model. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA is expected to stay in the same price range with the outgoing version which is currently priced at $32,225.
