2016 Skoda Snowman Release Date
Skoda has announced the all-new 2016 Skoda SUV to make its debut by the end of 2015. The company’s decision to launch more SUV models is encouraged mostly by the immense success that the Skoda Yeti has had over the years. The first new SUV bearing a Skoda nameplate will come as the 2016 Skoda Snowman. It is expected to hit the showrooms in early 2016.
The 2016 Skoda Snowman will slot right above the Skoda Yeti. Apart from the Yeti’s huge popularity, Skoda has other reasons to invest in developing new sports utility models. Namely, the crossover SUV segment is currently the fastest growing on most world markets. This class once used to be the trademark of the US automotive industry but it has gradually spreaded to the rest of the world. In addition to the Snowman, Skoda plans to launch yet another SUV model in the near future. It is expected to arrive as the Skoda Sherpa SUV.
2016 Skoda Snowman Design and Specs
The Skoda’s latest SUV is a result of long-term and careful planning. This model is expected to combine the characteristics of several other models made by the VW group. Apart from borrowing some of its features from the tried and tested Skoda Yeti, it will also have a lot in common with the latest Skoda Superb, especially when it comes to performance. However, the 2016 Skoda Snowman will actually share most of its features with the new-generation VW Tiguan SUV.
Just like the new Tiguan, the Snowman will ride on the VW MQB platform. The new Skoda Snowman 2016 will also be offered in five- and seven-seat configurations. Thanks to its 4,6 meters in length, the model will offer an exceptionally large cargo area as well as a comfortable and spacious cabin. In addition to all that, the Snowman will boast excellent off-road capabilities. To explain how serious Skoda is when it comes to its brand new SUV, it’s best to mention that the Snowman’s performance figures have already been compared with Land Rover’s models.
Other similarities between the Snowman and the VW Tiguan include their engine options. It’s been announced that the 2016 Skoda Snowman should offer several VW Euro 6 standard powertrain choices. These are the four-cylinder gasoline-powered TSI units. The 1.4-liter option generates 150 horsepower, while the 2.0-liter version makes 180 hp. There will also be a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine that comes in 150 and 180 horsepower versions.
