2016 Subaru Forester Review
The Subaru Forester will bring only few subtle changes when the 2016 model arrives. The best-selling Subaru’s model underwent a redesign for the 2014 model year which simply improved its well-known qualities. It appears that the company is currently satisfied with its market share, so we expect more substantial changes to arrive at a later date. The only notable innovation has recently come with the 2015 Forester STi model. However, the model is aimed exclusively at the Japanese market. As for the 2016 Subaru Forester, expect to see several technological tweaks and updates.
2016 Subaru Forester Changes
The upcoming Forester is expected to carry over unchanged when it comes to exterior styling. Although it doesn’t offer a flashy and head-turning appearance, the Forester still comes as a relatively handsome and robust compact utility vehicle. Thanks to the latest redesign, it offers more interior space and great outward visibility. Apart from the entry-level 2.5i, all models come with a roof rack that underlines the functionality of this dependable vehicle.
As for the changes announced for the 2016 model year, the bulk of these updates will be concentrated inside the cabin. Namely, the base Forester 2.5i will get a new 6.2-inch Starlink audio unit with single-touch gesture display and satellite radio. Now, the Premium, Limited and Touring trims should receive a larger 7-inch touch screen with multiple-gesture display as well as the Safety and Security package. Those models equipped with the EyeSight feature will adopt steering-responsive fog lights.
The 2016 Subaru Forester will be powered by the same engine range found in the current version. These are the two four-cylinder „boxer“ units. Most of the models will use the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine that delivers 170 hp, matched to a 6-speed manual transmission or the Lineartronic CVT automatic. The more powerful variant comes as the turbocharged, direct-injected 2.0-liter that churns out 250 hp. Its power is transmitted through a High-Torque Lineartronic CVT.
2015 Subaru Forester STi
This latest version of the Forester is currently available solely on the Japanese market. Based on the Forester STi ts concept, the 2015 Subaru Forester STi comes as a high-performance vehicle. Compared to the standard model, it boasts improved engine range, higher performance figures and sporty design. It also features sports exhaust, powerful body kit, front spoiler as well as larger wheels. Visually, it’s distinguishing feature is the special WR Blue Pearl body paint. The 2015 Subaru Forester STi is motivated by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, paired with a CVT and AWD. Its power output is rated at 300 hp with 400 Nm of torque.
