2016 Subaru Tribeca Redesign and Release Date

In order to boost the sales numbers of its largest SUV, Subaru decided to launch a completely redesigned model as the 2016 Subaru Tribeca. Subaru’s models have generally been quite popular on the US market, with only a few exceptions such as the Tribeca. After ten years of presence on this market, it seems this SUV failed to deliver what the American buyers were expecting from it. That being said, it’s no wonder the Japanese automaker made the decision to offer a whole new vehicle to replace the Tribeca for the 2016 model year. We expect to see an attractively designed seven-seater that features numerous innovations and technological updates. However, it still remains to be seen whether the upcoming model will actually be sold under the Tribeca badge.

2016 Subaru Tribeca Specs

The redesigned 2016 Tribeca SUV will base its exterior styling on the company’s recently unveiled concept vehicles. The model will certainly be greatly influenced by the Subaru Viziv 2 Concept and Subaru Crosover 7 Concept. What is more, the automaker announced its brand new model to resemble the Mazda CX-9 to some extent. As for the dimensions, the 2016 Subaru Tribeca is expected to outgrow the current model. This growth will allow a roomier cabin with more space available for rear passengers. Some rumors even hint at a possibility that the new Tribeca comes as a larger version of the Outback. However, we believe that the 2016 Tribeca will be much more appealing as a sporty crossover SUV that takes after the Subaru Viziv 2 Concept.

2016 Subaru Tribeca Concept

As far as the competition is concerned, the 2016 Subaru Tribeca is anticipated to take on the Ford Explorer as its main rival. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, Subaru needs to put a lot of effort into improving the current Tribeca. One of the priorities will certainly be the new more efficient engine under its hood. It is widely believed that the main cause of the Tribeca’s downfall was its inadequate 3.6-liter V6 powerplant. Now, the Subaru Crossover 7 Concept came with a four-cylinder 2.5-liter unit paired with CVT and AWD. So, the brand new generation of the model is expected to adopt identical mechanical features presented wiht the aforementioned concept. We also believe that the upcoming model is very likely to retain its current moniker and make its debut as the 2016 Subaru Tribeca.
