2016 Toyota Sequoia Redesign and Release
The 2016 Toyota Sequoia is due to make its debut in late 2015, while we’re also awating the launch of the brand new Tundra pickup truck. Sharing its platform with the Toyota Tundra pickup, the truck-based Sequoia SUV will naturally depend on the upcoming Tundra redesign when it comes to performance and design.
The Toyota Sequoia is the company’s first full-size SUV offered in the US and currently the largest. It first appeared on the North American market back in 2000, immediately becoming one of the most successful models in its segment. Despite its good sales numbers, the Japanese automaker believes that the the 2016 Toyota Sequoia should undergo a mid-cycle update.
2016 Toyota Sequoia Changes
The current Sequoia SUV features a capacious cabin combined with excellent performance. We expect the 2016 Toyota Sequoia to further enhance the performance figures while offering a refreshed exterior styling as well. The upcoming model will adopt a revamped front bumper and grille, redesigned light clusters and a more modern profile. As for the dimensions, the 2016 Sequoia will be identical to its predecessor. This extremely comfortable vehicle is able to accomodate up to 8 passengers. Inside the cabin, among very few notable innovations will be a tweaked infotainment system and a number of improved materials. Being a three-row body-on-frame SUV, the Sequoia has established itself as one of the best family haulers on the market. It provides the most comfortable long journeys and superb off-road capabilities. The 2016 Toyota Sequoia will be offered with a 9-inch LCD screen as well as the latest connectivity features.
Although this vehicle has been praised by many as one of the best options in the segment, it also comes with significant downsides. Probably the most significant one is its poor fuel economy estimated at 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. The current model is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while its output is rated at 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. It remains to be seen whether the Toyota’s engineers will find a way to boost the fuel efficiency of the 2016 Toyota Sequoia SUV.
2016 Toyota Sequoia Price
When it comes to pricing, the 2016 Toyota Sequoia is expected to be priced similarly to the 2015 model. Of course, the price varies depending on the trim level. The current SR5 version starts at $44,395, the Limited model at $53,355, while the range-topping Platinum trim costs $61,095. Having in mind the Sequoia’s qualities, these prices seem quite reasonable.
