2017 Acura RDX Redesign and Changes
Honda has recently unveiled the all-new Pilot SUV for the 2016 model year. Thanks to its new exterior design as well as the highly advanced systems and features, it immediately established itself as one of the most desirable models in the segment. It is widely believed that the Japanese automaker is preparing the rest of its SUV lineup to receive similar enhancements. One of the most likely candidates is the 2017 Acura RDX. Bearing in mind the fact that it hasn’t undergone any significant improvements lately, this proposition sounds quite reasonable.
Acura being a Honda’s subsidiary, is certainly the first brand to adopt its latest technological and styling updates implemented in the new-generation Honda Pilot SUV. As far as the Acura’s crossover SUV lineup is concerned, the RDX actually slots right below the MDX model. The two models share a similar architecture, with the most notable difference being their seating configurations. While the MDX SUV accomodates seven passengers in three rows of seating, the smaller RDX SUV is offered as a five-seater. What sets the 2017 Acura RDX apart from its predecessors is an exceptionally high level of technological sophistication.
2017 Acura RDX Specs
The RDX crossover has been one of the most sought after vehicles in the segment, mostly due to its remarkable level of luxury and elegance. Not only that, this great model offers a powerful yet fuel efficient engine option as well. The current version is propeled by a 3.5-liter V6 that gives 273 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque. Its power is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic transmission, with FWD as standard and AWD available as an option. We believe that this highly efficient unit will find its way in the 2017 Acura RDX as well. The FWD variant is estimated at 20 city/28 hwy mpg, while the AWD model returns 19 city/27 hwy mpg.
However, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Acura decides to extend the engine range by adding another unit. It is very likely that the 2017 RDX could be offered with one of the Honda’s new EarthDreams engines.
Needless to say, the luxurious 2017 Acura RDX will be replete with all sorts of driver assist systems and safety features. Inside, expect to see only the high-end materials and top-notch trim. There will be plenty of chrome accents combined with the finest leather upholstery, while the exceptionally comfortable seats will boast such features as heating and cooling systems. Expect to see a multi-zone climate control, a high-resolution touch-screen as well as a new infotainment system with multiple connectivity options. Some of the optional equipment will include automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, a rear view camera, lane departure assist, crash assist as well as many other safety features.
2017 Acura RDX Price
The upcoming model is not expected to stray too far from the outgoing version when it comes to pricing. The 2017 Acura RDX is most likely to range between $35,000 and $43,000.
