2017 Audi Q2

Audi’s smallest crossover is scheduled to make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Encouraged by the success of the Q3 SUV, the German automaker decided to give a go-ahead to an even smaller crossover SUV. Although it was previously believed that the all-new model will adopt the Q1 moniker, the company has recently announced that it’s definitely going to be sold under the Q2 nameplate. The 2017 Audi Q2 is expected to join Audi’s quite successful SUV lineup that already includes the Q3, Q5 and Q7 models.

2017 Q2 Design

The 2017 Audi Q2 ride on the MQB platform that underpins many of the latest VW Group’s models. According to several spy shots of a test prototype, the baby SUV will be a downsized version of the Q3. However, the Q2 is expected to differ from its larger sibling thanks to its lower roofline that gives it more of a coupe-like appearance. When it comes to the front fascia, the new crossover is expected to feature a more angular design shared with the upcoming Q6 and Q8 models. Consequently, the 2017 Q2 will boast a more aggressive exterior styling than you would normally expect from Audi’s SUV range.

As for the interior design, it’s still not clear whether the Q2 will borrow the styling cues previewed by the new Q7 and A4. If it does, expect to see a clean dashboard adorned with a continuous air-vent strip as well as some other stylish features. Another possibility is that the Q2’s interior design language will mimic the one seen on the slightly smaller Audi A1. In any case, its cabin will provide one of the most comfortable spaces in this segment.

The 2017 Audi Q2 is expected to host a number of four-cylinder engines. As for the gasoline options, expect to see a 1.4-liter TFSI in different variants with outputs ranging between 120 and 182 horsepower. Now, the diesel lineup is likely to include 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter TDIs, while the range-topping unit is expected to crank out 190 ponies. There will also be a performance-oriented SQ2 model powered by the same engine found in the 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI. This unit under the hood of the SQ2 is expected to churn out 230 hp. Moreover, an RS Q2 version is likely to arrive at a later date.

2017 Audi Q2 Price

Audi’s smallest SUV is expected to be the cheapest one as well. Expect the 2017 Audi Q2 to be priced below the Q3 which currently starts at €29,600. Sadly, the Q2 is unlikely to appear on the North American market in the foreseeable future.
