2017 Bentley Bentayga New Luxury SUV Release
After much debate and controversy, Bentley’s first SUV has finally been given an official namebadge. Namely, when it was first revealed as the EXP 9 F Concept, it was widely speculated that the production version should carry the same name. Later on, some sources hinted at a possibility that the model will actually be called the Bentley Falcon. However, the production model will be known as the 2017 Bentley Bentayga. This luxury SUV is currently in the final stages of development and its debut is anticipated at one of the upcoming motor shows by the end of 2015. The model is due to go on sale and start production in 2016.
The British automaker has announced the model as the most luxurious and most expensive SUV on the market. Although based on the EXP 9 F Concept, the 2017 Bentley Bentayga actually doesn’t have much in common with it. The company intends to build this exclusive SUV in the UK. When it comes to styling, the Bentayga combines the recognizable and conventional appearance of a Bentley with a number of design cues that give it an athletic look. In that way, the production-ready model avoids the controversial and polarizing effect of the aforementioned concept vehicle.
2017 Bentley Bentayga Design and Specs
The Bentley SUV will be based on the VW PL 71 platform, the same one that already underpins the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. Being a full-size SUV, the Bentayga is comparable to the Porsche Cayenne when it comes to dimensions. As for the exterior design, it reflects an excellent blend of luxury and performance. The name Bentayga is supposed to hint at off-road abilities expected from this SUV. The upcoming Bentley SUV 2017 is meant to overcome any obstacle thrown at it. In that sense, it should resemble a Range Rover SUV capable of overcoming vast desert terrains as well as mountain trails covered with snow. The 2017 Bentley Bentayga is expected to provide excellent off-road performance combined with a distinctive luxury of a Bentley vehicle.
The 2017 Bentley SUV boasts an exceptionally powerful engine lineup. There will be a 6.0-liter W12 engine that generates between 575 hp and 650 hp, depending on the version. Another option comes as a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant that produces less power but provides much better fuel efficiency. In addittion to these two engines, the company plans to offer the 2017 Bentley Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid version as well. However, it is more likely to arrive for the 2017 model year. Some sources suggest that the Bentayga Hybrid could be motivated by a similar hybrid system found in the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.
Price of the 2017 Bentayga SUV
An entry-level model is expected to start at £140.000, while the top-of-the-range 2017 Bentley Bentayga should cost around £200.000.
