2017 BMW X1 Hybrid Release Date
BMW has already announced that the new X1 crossover will be offered in the form of a hybrid model. The 2017 BMW X1 plug-in hybrid will be powered by a conventional four-cylinder unit combined with an electric motor. Rumor has it that the upcoming model is most likely to be sold as the 2017 BMW X1 xDrive30e, with sales starting some time in 2016.
The hybrid model is set to arrive shortly after the standard X1 and its sporty version the X1 M model hit the dealerships. This BMW’s strategy is expected to make the upcoming X1 the class-leading model in this rapidly growing segment.
2017 BMW X1 Hybrid Specs
There have been several conflicting reports concerning the 2017 BMW X1 Hybrid. One of the sources suggests that this plug-in hybrid is most likely to be powered by a gas-electric system that comprises a four-cylinder 2.0-liter unit and and an electric motor. While the conventional engine is due to power the front wheels, the electric motor should propel the rear ones with its 88 horsepower and 136 Nm of torque. The system’s combined output is estimated at around 200 horsepower. Thanks to this system, the 2017 BMW X1 Hybrid should be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds, while its top speed will be 209 km/h. Also, the hybrid-powered model will feature very low CO2 emissions of 50 g/km. However, other sources hint at a hybrid system that uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor. Anyway, we expect BMW to issue an official announcement concerning the new X1’s power department.
Alongside this model, the Bavarian automaker has also announced a seven-seat 2017 BMW X1 Hybrid. Both models should ride on the same UKL platform. Compared to the standard five-seater, the model with seven seats will feature a longer wheelbase. According to certain reports, the additional two seats are most likely to be suitable for accomodating only small children. Since the plug-in hybrid X1 will come with its electric motor and batteries fitted at the rear side, the cargo space will have to be downsized for about 100 liters.
