2017 BMW X5 Redesign
The 2017 BMW X5 will arrive just in time to receive a mid-cycle update. As you probably know, the third generation of this mid-size crossover made its debut for the 2013 MY and it’s currently one of the top models in this segment. So, expect to see a number of cosmetic changes as well as several new features to join the list of standard equipment.
As for the visual updates, the refreshed X5 will receive only subtle tweaks on both ends of the vehicle. The 2017 BMW X5 is likely to arrive with revised light clusters and slightly reshaped bumpers. It is expected to retain its recognizable „kidney“ grille that merges with the sleek headlights. Inside, this premium SUV will get several styling tweaks. We expect to see a refreshed dashboard and a few new interior colors. Just like its predecessor, the 2017 X5 will boast exceptionally comfortable first two rows of seats with plenty of legroom. However, the optional third row will remain too tight for adult passengers.
2017 X5 Engine Range and Specs
As far as the power department is concerned, the 2017 X5 will carry over unchanged. It will be available with three turbocharged engines, all matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The gasoline-powered 3.0-liter V6 produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. As for the diesel option, expect to see a 3.0-liter V6 punching out 255 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the range-topping models get a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 445 hp and 479 lb-ft of twist. All models will be offered with start/stop function that contributes to higher fuel-efficiency numbers.
Needless to say, the 2017 BMW X5 will be one of the most amply equipped models in this segment. The list of standard equipment offered with the current version includes such amenities as 10-way power and heated front seats, a navigation system with 10.2-inch touch-screen, a panoramic moonroof, xenon adaptive headlights, a power tailgate and a 9-speaker audio system with HD radio. While leather upholstery and a rearview camera currently cost extra money, the 2017 X5 will offer these features as standard. Also, BMW is expected to apply some of the latest safety systems in the updated model.
2017 BMW X5 Price
Expect no significant changes when it comes to the pricing. The 2017 BMW X5 will be priced in the same range as the outgoing model which starts at $54,000. The range-topping X5 M currently costs slightly over $100,000.
