2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT
We now know a lot more about the upcoming successor to the Cadillac SRX crossover SUV. The new generation will come with the 2017 Cadillac XT5, inspired by the company’s new design philosophy. The latest design trends have recently been showcased by several other Cadillac’s models. Namely, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 will share its styling cues with the new Escalade, CTS and CT6. In addition to the standard model, the American automaker plans to launch the 2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT version as well.
One of the recent reports suggested that Cadillac is due to offer an XT5-V version of the upcoming model. However, the company’s officials later stated that this high-performance variant will not be available on the market. Instead, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT model will take its place but it won’t undergo the full V-Series treatment.
2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT Specs
The brand new model will feature a large front grille as well as new headlights. Compared to the standard XT5, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT will be more richly appointed, while its new engine should provide better output figures.
The upcoming Cadillac XT5 will be based on the new C1XX platform that underpins several other GM’s models. There will be two powerful gasoline engines, while the 2017 Cadillac XT5 Hybrid version is likely to appear as well. As for the conventional engine range, expect to see a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine that gives 265 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 unit that churns out 335 horsepower. FWD will come standard, with optional AWD.
The official statement concerning the 2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT’s engine option is yet to be released. It is quite reasonable to expect a whole new engine under its hood. On the other hand, some believe that one of the aforementioned engines offered with the standard XT5 should undergo an enhancement process in order to appear inside the new VSPORT model.
Anyway, both the exterior design and the engine range expected from the new generation will come improved, compared to the outgoing Cadillac SRX. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT as well as the standard 2017 XT5 will certainly offer more advanced technological features and a longer list of standard equipment. Some of the most notable amenities include the improved CUE infotainment system, Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto compatibility. We also expect a new navigation system and an enhanced version of the Surround Vision feature.
2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT Release Date
We’re still in the dark when it comes to the new model’s official release date. Its premiere has been delayed several times but we expect the 2017 Cadillac XT5 VSPORT to make its debut in late 2015 or early 2016. The model is due to go on sale shortly after its official presentation. Both the standard and the VSPORT versions are expected to hit the dealerships simultaneously.
However, the XT5 VSPORT won’t be the only model to receive the V-Series treatment. According to the company, the same is expected from the performance-oriented version of the Escalade SUV. The new Escalade-V should offer a more powerful engine compared to the current model which features a 6.2-liter V8 unit with 420 horsepower and 623 Nm of torque.
