2017 Chevrolet Equinox Release Date
The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was presented to the public at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. The new model came with minor upgrades and several styling tweaks. Most of the changes were focused on equipment updates and fuel efficiency enhancements. We expect the third generation of this five-seater SUV to make its debut during the spring of 2017. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the the model will be sold as the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox or the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. Anyhow, the redesigned model is not likely to arrive before the spring of 2017.
2017 Chevrolet Equinox Redesign
As for the 2016 model, it came with a facelift and several improvements inside the cabin. The front fascia facelift included a new deeper grille with horizontal chrome accents. Those same updates were shared by the 2016 GMC Terrain. In addition to that, the 2016 Equinox received a new L trim level that replaced the entry-level trim. While the LS trim was moved up to the next level, the LS and LTZ trims received additional features. The LT trim carried over unchanged and the LT1 and LT2 trims got discontinued.
In other words, the popular mid-size crossover didn’t offer any revolutionary changes. However, the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox will arrive as a thoroughly redesigned model. The new-generation Equinox will be underpinned by the compact D2XX platform. Its new underpinnings will result in a significant weight reduction and consequently in a much-needed enhancement of its fuel economy. This change will be an essential part of the automaker’s effort to make the 2017 Equinox more appealing to a broader customer base. What is more, the new platform should enable a more advanced design of the sheet metal.
According to some reports, the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox will be powered by a new four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine that makes 196 horsepower and 253 nm of torque. This entry-level engine already motivates the Chevy Malibu model. The more powerful unit will be a 3.6-liter V6 engine that churns out 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft. Its power will be transmitted to the wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Apart from the conventional powerplants, the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox is expected to offer a plug-in hybrid version as well.
2017 Chevy Equinox Price
When it comes to the 2016 MY pricing, it ranges from $25,000 to $33,500. As for the redesigned model, its price will certainly depend on the extent of changes it will receive. We expect the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox to stay in the similar price range as the 2016 model.
