2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer Comeback

The familiar Trailblazer nameplate is currently used by the Chevrolet SUV model sold in Southeast Asia, South Africa, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Australia where it is known as the Holden Colorado. The original Trailblazer was first released for the 2002 model year, while its production ended in 2009 when it was replaced by the Chevrolet Traverse on the US market. However, some unnamed sources have recently announced the Trailblazer’s comeback to North America. It appears that the 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer will come as an all-new model finally available to the US buyers.

Since the company still hasn’t come out with any details on the second-generation Trailblazer, we can still only speculate about its exterior design and features. What we do know for sure is that the 2017 Chevy Trailblazer will retain its rear-wheel drive layout and seven-passenger capacity. Once it arrives, this mid-size model will be the fifth SUV in Chevy’s portfolio. It is very likely to be unerpinned by the same platform used by the new-generation Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups that are currently built in the US. Another fact that goes in favor of its American revival is the recent increase in demand for crossover SUVs all around the world. The brand new Trailblazer is expected to adopt Chevy’s new design philosophy as far as the SUV family is concerned. So, expect to see a rugged and more striking front end compared to its predecessor. As for the rear side, it is likely to come with more conventional lines similar to those seen on the current global model.

2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer Engine

Rumor has it that the 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer might be offered with a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 engine punching out 345 horsepower. Its power should be transmitted to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission that comes standard, while a manual gearbox is expected to come optional. As for the all-wheel drive system, it will be available only with higher trim levels.

Official release date of the 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer is yet to be released. However, we expect this great SUV to hit the North American dealerships in the second half of 2016.

One Response to 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer Comeback

Chevy needs a true midsize 4 wheel drive SUV (has a high-low transfer case) to compete with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. My 2008 Trailblazer was such a vehicle–unfortunately it is no longer available.
