2017 Dodge Durango SRT High-performance Version
Rumor has it that Dodge plans to launch an SRT version of the well-known Durango SUV. Namely, Fiat Chrysler aims to give this model an SRT treatment similar to the one featured by the highly successful Jeep Grand Cherokee. Instead of investing huge amounts into redesigning the existing models, it seems that the company’s strategy now relies on the less costly upgrades. So, the 2017 Dodge Durango SRT is expected to adopt a mighty 6.4-liter Hemi engine that already powers the Grand Cherokee SRT. With this new powerful unit under its hood, the performance-oriented Durango should rival the European competitors when it comes to the driving experience.
2017 Durango SRT Engine Specs
Although we’re still awaiting detailed engine specifications for the 2017 Dodge Durango SRT, we can speculate about the 6.4-liter Hemi’s performance based on the aforementioned Grand Cherokee SRT. This V8 powertrain under its hood churns out impressive 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Its standard all-wheel drive system and 8-speed automatic transmission make the Grand Cherokee SRT one of the most capable SUVs as far as driving on the streets is concerned. We expect the Durango to score even higher performance figures once it hits the streets. However, it is not likely to receive a Hellcat engine, which means the Grand Cherokee will remain the Chrysler’s only SUV that cranks out amazing 700 horsepower.
Unlike the standard Durango models that ride on off-road focused underpinnings, the 2017 Dodge Durango SRT will get a lower setup as well as a stiffer sport suspension. It will also feature more agressive front and rear fascias and recognizable five-spoke wheels that will set it apart from the regular version. Expect also to see a blacked-out trim that will give it a more imposing appearance. Inside, the new Durango SRT will be amply equipped with Chrysler’s latest materials and technology. It will feature a redesigned center console and instrument panel, Nappa leather upholstery as well as plenty of carbon fiber and sleek details such as leather-wrapped door trim panels. Of course, there will be several conspicuous SRT logos found throughout the cabin.
2017 Dodge Durango SRT Release Date
