2017 GMC Terrain Redesign
The 2016 GMC Terrain made its debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show revealing a minor facelift. Many believe that the model is long overdue for a complete overhaul, but the company seems satisfied with its current sales figures. Anyway, we expect the 2017 GMC Terrain to undergo more substantial changes in the near future. The same goes for its sibling the Chevrolet Equinox which is anticipated to be offered as a third-generation model for the 2017 model year. So, the GMC Terrain is most likely to come completely redesigned simultaneously with its Chevy sibling.
The GMC Terrain belongs to the compact crossover SUV segment. Even though it features quite a spacious cabin, it is actually offered as a five-seater. As far as the third-generation model is concerned, it will adopt a new D2XX platform. Besides its brand new underpinnings, the upcoming 2017 Terrain is expected to receive a completely redesigned exterior styling. Until the next-generation version arrives for the 2017 model year, the 2016 GMC Terrain is available as a mildly refreshed model. It comes with only cosmetic changes that include a slightly revised front and rear fascia with several new chrome accents. The higher trim levels will offer LED daytime running lights as well as new 18- and 19-inch wheels. Also, the 2016 Terrain is available with two new exterior colors, Crimson Red Tintcoat and White Frost Tricoat.
2017 GMC Terrain Engines
As far as the new Terrain’s engine range is concerned, we’re still in the dark. The new model will continue to use the 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit that develops 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque as standard. As for the optional 3.6-liter V6, it generates 301 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive will be offered as standard, while all-wheel drive comes optional. Possible new units to join the engine range are more likely to arrive with the next-generation 2017 model.
2017 GMC Terrain Price
The current entry-level model starts at $27,335. Since the Terrain SUV offers quite a number of trim levels and additional equipment packages, it features a wide price range as well. The fully loaded range-topping model can reach up to $38,015. Also, some of its hi-tech features are available only with optional packages. Those include 4G LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot as well as Intelli Link and Siri Eyes Free. It is believed that the 2017 GMC Terrain might offer some of these amenities as standard equipment. As for the pricing, it is expected to stay unchanged.
