2017 GMC Yukon Release Date
The GMC Yukon and its sibling, the Chevrolet Tahoe, came completely redesigned for the 2015 model year. So, the latest generation of these two GM’s full-size SUVs will be in the third year of production when the 2017 models arrive. That being said, you shouldn’t expect them to bring any revolutionary changes for the 2017 MY. However, there will be certain innovations that should help the upcoming Yukon stay fresh in this increasingly competitive segment. Namely, the 2017 GMC Yukon is expected to receive a longer list of standard equipment and enhanced fuel economy numbers.
2017 GMC Yukon Design
The 2017 GMC Yukon will be one of the very few remaining truck-based SUVs available on the market. What sets it apart from the rest of the crossover SUV competition is its quite imposing appearance. Once again, this full-sized SUV will ride on two wheelbases. While the standard model’s wheelbase will be 116 inches, the Yukon XL’s will be 130 inches. The upcoming model will retain its traditional square-shaped design but its aerodynamics will certainly come improved compared to its predecessor. Some of its notable features are the projector-beam headlights, available on most of the models.
Inside, expect to see a plush environment, filled with soft-touch materials. As for the latest generation of the Yukon SUV, it offers a much more luxurious cabin, especially the Denali trims.
2017 GMC Yukon Engine Range
The engine options offered with the 2017 GMC Yukon will carry over mostly unchanged. However, we expect to see some tweaks that should improve the Yukon’s fuel economy. The entry-level models will be powered by the familiar 5.3-liter V8 that gives 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. As for the recently introduced 6.2-liter V8, it will churn out 420 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Both of the units will be matched to a six-speed automatic transmission and offered with a choice of rear- and all-wheel drive. The current model’s fuel economy is estimated at 16/23 mpg (city/highway) but we believe there’s enough room for improvement with the 2017 model.
2017 GMC Yukon Price
Although the official release date is yet to be announced, the 2017 GMC Yukon is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2016. As far as the pricing is concerned, we expect it to retain the current price tag.
