2017 Honda HR-V Diesel Release Date
The 2016 Honda HR-V SUV made its European debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Back in 2014, the company first revealed a pre-production version of the popular crossover at the Paris motor show. The Japanese company has recently released specifications for the European HR-V model. One of the models that drew a lot of attention to itself was the 2017 Honda HR-V Diesel, mostly due to its excellent performance and great fuel efficiency. This outstanding model will be available in Europe starting from the summer of 2015.
The 2017 Honda HR-V Diesel will actually come as a revived model under the HR-V nameplate. Namely, the original HR-V was sold globally between 1999 and 2006 with much success. So, the company decided to relaunch the model almost a decade after the first iteration got discontinued. However, the brand new generation will be offered under different nameplates on various markets. The European and North American variants will be sold as the 2016 Honda HR-V, the Chinese version as the 2016 Honda HR-V, while the domestic Japanese market will know it as the 2016 Honda Vezel.

In a nutshell, the new HR-V comes as an extremely dynamic vehicle. It combines the spaciousness of an SUV, versatility of a minivan and elegance of a coupe model. As for the moniker itself, it is actually an acronym for Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle. What sets the 2017 Honda HR-V Diesel apart is its impressive comfort combined with great fuel economy. These two characteristics are usually decisive as far as the European customer base is concerned.
With its 429/177/160 cm (l/w/h), the HR-V belongs to the subcompact crossover SUV segment which is becoming increasingly popular across Europe. The 2017 Honda HR-V Diesel boasts a decent cargo capacity of 453 liters. As for the driver assist technology, it offers such systems as the lane-departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision detection and traffic-sign recognition. The HR-V Diesel 2017 will be offered in Comfort, Sport i Executive trim levels.
2017 Honda HR-V Diesel Specs
Under the hood, the 2017 HR-V Diesel will have a 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine at its disposal. Honda’s Earth Dreams unit generates 120 horsepower and needs just above 10 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, it consumes 4 liters per 100 km, while its CO2 emissions are rated at 104 g/km. These numbers put the 2017 Honda HR-V Diesel among the class-leading models when it comes to fuel efficiency.
Besides the 2017 Honda HR-V Diesel, there will be a gasoline-powered version available on the European market. This model will be powered by a 1.5-liter unit that makes 130 hp, coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox or the optional CVT. As for the CVT version, it is rated at 5.2 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 120 g/km. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds. Now, the model with 6-speed manual transmission is rated 5.6 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 130 g/km and 10.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
