2017 Infiniti QX50 Release Date

When it first arrived in 2008, the QX50 crossover was actually known as the EX35. At the time, it was praised for excellent performance although practicality wasn’t among its upsides. The trouble with the QX50 is the fact that it hasn’t received almost any substantial changes ever since its inception. Apart from adopting the new name badge in 2014, the only notable update came with the extended wheelbase for the 2016 model year. While that improvement solved the problem of the cramped rear space, the QX50 retained its outdated exterior and interior design. Many believe that Infiniti’s entry-level SUV is long overdue for a thorough overhaul. We believe that the 2017 Infiniti QX50 will bring much-needed visual changes as well as a refreshed interior.

2017 Infiniti QX50 Changes

The bulk of the upcoming exterior changes will be concentrated on the vehicle’s front end. Besides receiving a restyled grille, the 2017 Infiniti QX50 will also get reshaped headlights as well as a brand new front bumper. Changes at the back won’t be as dramatic but expect to see revised light clusters and minor alterations on the bumper. The upcoming changes are expected to bring the QX50 more in line with the rest of Infiniti’s lineup. As for the interior, the 2017 model will be refreshed with some new materials and certain tweaks on its dashboard. It will also come with an enhanced infotainment system, while the list of standard safety features should be extended.

2017 Infiniti QX50 Engine Range

When it comes to the mechanical department, the 2017 Infiniti QX50 is expected to come with a new engine option. Of course, there will be the tried and tested 3.7-liter V6 that makes 325 horsepower paired with the seven-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its unique rear-wheel drive platform, the QX50 will once again offer the sporty driving experience. Now, some of the recent rumors have pointed towards a possibility that the 2017 QX50 might borrow an engine from the Q50 sedan. This turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder returns much higher fuel-efficiency numbers than the aforementioned V6. Whether the upcoming QX50 SUV will come with a brand new powertrain, remains to be seen.

In the absence of official announcements, we predict that the 2017 Infiniti QX50 is most likely to make its debut in mid-2016.
