2017 Mazda CX-5 Release Date
After receiving a bevy of updates for the 2016 model year, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will come mostly unchanged compared to its predecessor. This great crossover SUV might come with an extended list of standard amenities as well as a few interior tweaks offered with the 2017 model. Apart from getting a revised grille, the latest additions to the model’s equipment include an electronic parking brake, a revisited center console and a larger 7-inch display. Also, the base models now come standard with the more powerful 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while the automatic transmission gets a Sport mode for improved performance.
2017 Mazda CX-5 Changes
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will be one of the most stylish crossovers in the segment. After the recent facelift, its sporty yet elegant look is even more appealing than before. Being the first model to introduce Mazda’s renowned Kodo design philosophy, the CX-5 features a well proportioned body with plenty of muscular lines that give it an athletic appearance. The entry-level models come with 17-inch, while the Grand Touring version offers 19-inch aluminum wheels.
As is the case with other compact crossovers, the CX-5’s rear bench isn’t large enough to accomodate three adults. However, it does offer more headroom and legroom than most of its competitors. While the Sport and Touring trims offer seats covered in cloth, the Grand Touring models get leather upholstery. The recently revised central console now features user-friendly controls and the new accents give it a more premium look and feel. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo space can be expanded to around 65 cubic feet.
2017 Mazda CX-5 Engine Range
As for the engine options, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is expected to carry over unchanged. The base models get the old 2.0-liter inline-4 that 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. Now, the rest of the lineup will be motivated by the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Whereas the less powerful unit comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the more potent one is matched solely to a six-speed automatic.
2017 Mazda CX-5 Price
Expect the 2017 Mazda CX-5 to stay in the same pricing range as the outgoing model. That means the entry-level version should start slightly lower than $23,000.
