2017 Mazda CX-9 Release Date
The next generation of the Mazda’s largest SUV is bound to make its debut in early 2016. Compared to the current model, the 2017 Mazda CX-9 will arrive with a large number of substantial changes. Thanks to the company’s managing executive officer Masahiro Moro, we’ve been given some interesting details on the upcoming model.
As for the current version of the CX-9, it was given a facelift back in 2012. Now, the brand new model will not only come with a redesigned styling, but its parts and components will be replaced almost entirely. According to some recently taken pictures of a CX-9 test prototype, it seems Mazda plans to give this model a much more dynamic appearance that’s in line with the company’s Kodo design language. That said, it’s no wonder the 2017 model’s premiere is expected so eagerly by many fans of this Japanese brand.
2017 Mazda CX-9 Redesign
The brand new CX-9 SUV will gain a new engine. The 2017 Mazda CX-9 will be powered by a four-cylinder 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that should replace the current Ford’s V6. Besides the V6 unit, the current model has been fitted with other components borrowed from the Ford Motor Company. However, the future CX-9 will rely strictly on parts developed independently by Mazda.
Inside the 2017 Mazda CX-9, expect a redesigned cabin space and some new features. The model will boast a higher trim quality and more premium materials. Although the current Mazda CX-9 is known as one of the most comfortable models in the segment, the upcoming version is expected to surpass its predecessor when it comes to driving experience.
Interestingly, there has been much discussion about diesel units finding their place under the new model’s hood. Many regard it as the least likely option since the CX-9 has traditionally been aimed for the US market. Although diesel engines haven’t been the most popular options among American buyers, many automakers have started introducing them in their US models. For instance, the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs are currently available with diesel powerplants as well. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if the 2017 Mazda CX-9 follows in their footsteps, especially since the demand for such models has been rising steadily.
The exact date of the new CX-9 SUV’s release is yet to be confirmed. However, we do know that the model is currently in its final stages of development thanks to those test mule photos. Some reports suggest that it could make its debut in late 2015. However, we believe the 2017 Mazda CX-9 is far more likely to arrive in early 2016.
