2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe Release Date

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the brand new generation of the GLC SUV, due to go on sale by the end of 2015. The German company also presented the freshened GLE SUV at the 2015 New York motor show. Not long after that, the company issued yet another announcement concerning an all-new model. Namely, the 2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe is scheduled to arrive as a coupe version of the 2016 Mercedes GLC SUV. The 2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe is expected to take on the BMW X4 SUV immediately after its debut in late 2016 or early 2017.

The model was first previewed by a designer sketch at the 2015 New York motor show. The 2017 GLC Coupe concept version was then premiered a few months later at the 2015 Shanghai motor show. According to the company, the production version of the new model will have a lot in common with the concept vehicle.

2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe Design

Mercedes-Benz’s decision to launch a direct competitor to the BMW X4 SUV didn’t come as much of a surprise. The company has already responded to the BMW X6 by offering the GLE Coupe SUV. The time has come for the 2017 GLC Coupe to prove itself as a worthy competitor to the X4 model.

Externally, the GLC Coupe reminds of a downsized version of the GLE Coupe. The upcoming GLC Coupe will actually be based on the 2016 Mercedes GLC that replaced the GLK SUV. At the same time, the new model is expected to showcase the company’s new design approach when it comes to the SUV family.

2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe Engines

The 2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe will be based on the platform that already underpins the second-generation GLK SUV. Its design will be influenced by the new C-Class with which it shares a lot of features. According to official announcements, the engine range will comprise several gasoline- and diesel-powered units. The engine range is most likely to be borrowed from the 2016 Mercedes GLC SUV. The new model is expected to be offered as a Plug-In Hybrid as well. The 2017 Mercedes GLC Coupe’ hybrid system will be borrowed from the upcoming Mercedes C350e.
