2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Release Date
Rumor has it that the fourth-generation Outlander is slated to arrive in late 2017 for the 2018 model year. That means the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander will be the last model of the third generation. In that sense, we expect it to arrive mostly unchanged compared to the facelifted 2016 version. These latest changes include a substantial refresh of both the exterior and interior, as well as a number of upgrades in the drivetrain department. We believe this recent facelift will help the Outlander stay fresh while competing with the likes of the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue, at least until the all-new generation hits the dealerships.
As for the exterior styling, the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander will inherit all of the alterations offered by its predecessor. This seven-passenger SUV now features a reshaped front fascia that gives it a more mature look. The new grille comes with two horizontal slats, while the redesigned bumper incorporates a huge trapezoidal inlet as well as some chrome accents. Expect also to see restyled headlamps and fog lamps with new housings. At the back, the refreshed Outlander boasts a more contemporary design that includes new taillights and more of chrome accents on its tailgate.
The interior of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander will offer a fair share of significant updates as well. The list of recently introduced features includes new seating surfaces, rear folding seat, a redesigned steering wheel, accent trim and headliner. Expect also to find a display audio system and auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink. One of the most notable improvements comes with improved sound insulation throughout the vehicle that results in reduced noise levels.
2017 Outlander Specs
Under the hood, the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander will offer the same engine range found in the 2016 model. The ES and SE versions will be motivated by the 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 166 horsepower 162 lb-ft of torque. As for the GT model, it gets the 3.6-liter V6 punching out 224 hp and 215 lb-ft of twist. The most important upgrade introduced with the refreshed Outlander comes with the new CVT that provides improved acceleration and shift feel. Other improvements include a more rigid body structure, an enhanced suspension as well as new power steering.
