2017 Renault Crossover SUV Release Date
Renault revealed its brand new crossover SUV in the first half of 2015. The new Renault Kadjar received much praise from both the critics and consumers immediately after its launch. Encouraged by this success, the French automaker has decided to offer another model in this rapidly growing segment. Namely, the 2017 Renault Crossover SUV is anticipated to arrive in late 2016 or early 2017.
The 2017 Renault Crossover SUV is aimed to slot right above the Kadjar SUV. Thanks to its larger dimensions, it will be able to seat up to seven passengers. Some sources suggest that the model should stretch 464 cm in length. This brand new Renault is rumored to share much of its features with the Nissan X-Trail SUV. It doesn’t really come as a surprise, having in mind the fact that the Renault Kadjar and Nissan Qashqai already share most of their mechanical components. We have no reason to doubt that the next model made in cooperation between Renault and Nissan should result in a huge success.
2017 Renault Crossover SUV Design and Specs
Although the upcoming model has already been publicly announced, more detailed specificiations are yet to be released. According to the Renault’s executives, it’s still early to reveal details concerning the all-new crossover SUV.
Also, we’re still in the dark when it comes to the actual nameplate we might get to see on the 2017 Renault Crossover SUV. However, rumor has it that it might adopt one of two monikers, namely the 2017 Renault Koleos or 2017 Renault Djeyo. Others speculate about a possibility that the new model’s name should start either with the letter C or K. In any case, we’ll have to wait until the new Renault SUV makes its debut in order to find out whether either one of these theories is plausible.
As for the power department, several rumors have surfaced lately. According to them, the 2017 Renault Crossover SUV will be powered by a 1.6-liter dCi diesel engine that generates 130 horsepower. Due to its close ties with the Nissan X-Trail, we might get to see an identical engine range as well. The Nissan X-Trail is currently available with the turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline DIG-T 163 unit that makes 163 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.
The new X-Trail is also available as a hybrid, which might hint at a possible hybrid version of the 2017 Renault Crossover SUV. Its gas-electric system consists of a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine, an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and XTRONIC transmission. The conventional engine produces 147 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 270 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. As for the electric motor, it adds 41 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque.
