2017 Suzuki Grand Vitara Replacement
According to Suzuki officials, the famous Grand Vitara SUV is very likely to be replaced by an all-new in a few years time. Although the current version of this mid-size SUV is still praised as a capable off-road vehicle, it’s beginning to show obvious signs of aging. The upcoming 2017 Suzuki Grand Vitara is expected to be based on the compact Vitara crossover that has recently made its global debut.
2017 Suzuki Grand Vitara New Platform
It seems that the Japanese automaker plans to use a stretched version of the new Vitara’a platform for the new seven-seat. By combining Grand Vitara’s renowned four-wheel drive system and off-road abilities with a sleek and more modern sheet metal, Suzuki hopes to boost its sales on various markets once the new-generation model arrives. Although it’s still too early to speculate about its exterior design, the brand new 2017 Grand Vitara is very likely to adopt most of the styling cues seen on the iV-4 concept and the smaller Vitara crossover. Currently, there is a huge demand for such a vehicle in Australia, New Zealand, Latin America and some parts of Europe. However, its launch may be several years away since the whole idea is still in the early stages of development.
Suzuki Grand Vitara Engine Options
At this point, details on the Grand Vitara’s engine range are unavailable. The current version is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit that produces 166 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. While the current model is available with both four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive, rumor has it that the next-generation 2017 Suzuki Grand Vitara might be offered with a cheaper front-wheel drive version. Of course, it is expected to retain its well-known off-road credentials for all those who want to take their SUV off the pavement.
Suzuki Grand Vitara 2017 Competition
By the time it goes on sale, the mid-size crossover SUV will become even more competitive than it is today. That may come as a serious obstacle when it comes to the launch of the whole new 2017 Suzuki Grand Vitara. To name just a few of its current rivals, the list includes such names as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V and numerous others. It remains to be seen whether the upcoming Grand Vitara will be able to join this relentless race.
