2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Release Date
Encouraged by the immense success of the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, the company has decided to launch a luxury version of the famous SUV. Namely, the 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer which should slot right above the Grand Cherokee. The sales are expected to start sometime in 2018, and the model will come as a direct competitor to Range Rover SUVs.
The American automaker views the launch of another luxury SUV model as highly profitable. Jeep has proven itself quite successful when it comes to selling vehicles costlier than $45,000, at least in the US. Interestingly, one of their most sought after models is the range-topping Jeep Grand Cherokee which is one of the reasons why the new luxurious seven-seater was given a go-ahead by the company’s executives.
Alongside the 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, there will be a brand new SUV in C segment as well. Since the Compass and Patriot models got discontinued, the space was cleared for an all-new compact crossover SUV expected to make its debut in 2016.
2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Design
Jeep enthusiasts have eagerly anticipated the upcoming 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The legendary model was produced for over thirty years. It was premiered in 1963 and then went on for the next thirty years and three generations. The model was very popular during that time, especially in North America.
There has been a lot of speculation about a possible connection between the Maserati Levante SUV and the Grand Wagoneer model. However, the company has dismissed these rumors and the two models won’t share the same platform nor any styling cues once they arrive. On the other hand, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee will serve as a roll-model for the upcoming Grand Wagoneer. To put it more precisely, the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee will come as a completely redesigned model which should then serve as a platform on which the 2018 Grand Wagoneer will be based. In order to get more details on the revived Grand Wagoneer, it seems we’ll have to wait for the redesigned Grand Cherokee to be revealed.
Now, the area in which there might be some similarities between the Grand Wagoneer and the Levante SUV is the power department. Some sources suggest that Jeep’s three-row SUV might borrow two Levante’s engines. These are the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel and the 3.8-liter V8 gasoline unit. Since the engines have proven themselves as very powerful, it is quite reasonable to expect the Grand Wagoneer to surpass the Grand Cherokee when it comes to performance figures.
According to the FCA group, the 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be offered on all of the top markets. Apart from the US, the model will be available in Europe, China and Middle East. Among its most notable upsides will be an outstanding level of luxury combined with loads of horsepower under its hood. The model is definitely expected to contribute greatly to the company’s efforts in boosting sales numbers and expanding into global markets.
