2018 Land Rover Defender Price

Although the next generation of the iconic Defender was previously expected to arrive sooner, the latest reports suggest that its debut is most likely to happen in 2017. Interestingly, Land Rover’s famous SUV hasn’t been redesigned in more than three decades. The direct successor to the 1948 Series I was last sold in the US almost twenty years ago, whereas the redesigned Defender is due to make its North American comeback. According to unnamed sources, the 2018 Land Rover Defender will be offered in five versions, including two two-door models, a long-wheelbase four-door model and two- and four-door pickups. Many car enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting the Defender’s arrival sometime in 2017, while the current version is going to be discontinued by the end of 2015. Land Rover has recently announced that the upcoming model is set to be built in an all-new facility in Slovakia.

2018 Defender Features

Official details on the 2018 Land Rover Defender are still scarce but we do have a general idea about its features. It is due to adopt a unibody platform, most likely an aluminum-based one, similar to those used by the brand’s other models. As for the exterior styling, the company has already revealed the DC100 concept as sort of a starting point in the development process. However, due to the mostly negative response to the aforementioned concept, the production-ready Defender is not very likely to share any of its styling cues with it.

2018 Land Rover Defender changes

We’re still in the dark when it comes to the possible engine options under the hood of the 2018 Land Rover Defender. Anyway, it would be reasonable to expect one of the brand’s tried and tested powertrains. Those include different units such as the supercharged 5.0-liter V8, 3.0-liter V6 as well as the new 2.0-liter four-cylinders, both gasoline- and diesel-powered. Of course, the new model will be offered with Land Rover’s superb 4-wheel drive system. It remains to be seen which one of these options will be chosen by the British automaker, but we have no doubts that the Defender’s next iteration will once again prove itself as one of the most capable off-roaders.

2018 Land Rover Defender  Competition

The Land Rover Defender 2018 is expected to start at around $55,000. Once it hits the dealerships, it will have a difficult task of competing with the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
