Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 Release Date

Subaru has revealed an all-new crossover based on the Exiga wagon. It is the largest crossover vehicle offered by the Japanese company, featuring three rows of seats with carrying capacity of seven passengers. The Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 will be sold exclusively on the Japanese market. The company still hasn’t announced its possible spreading to other world markets.

The concept version of this vehicle was first unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo motor show. As mentioned above, the 2016 Subaru Exiga will actually come as a crossover version of the familiar Exiga wagon that has been around since 2008. It is also reported that this model may serve as a basis for the next-generation Subaru Tribeca SUV.

Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 Design

The most prominent exterior design cues include a striking grille, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels and some plastic cladding. Not all car enthusiasts will be thrilled with its exterior styling but the interior design will definitely be acclaimed.

The seats feature high-quality leather upholstery, while the front seats come with a heating system. There are also piano black accents throughout the cabin, as well as an advanced infotainment system. One of the most valuable upsides of the 2016 Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 is its modular interior. The second and third row of seats is easily folded down forming a flat surface, thus providing a huge cargo area when needed.

Subaru Exiga Specs and Price

The Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 will be offered with a single engine under its hood. It is a four-cylinder 2.5-liter gasoline unit in boxer configuration. Its power output is 173 horsepower with 235 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive system. According to the company’s specs, its fuel economy is estimated at 7.6 l/100 km which is quite impressive for a vehicle that size. The model will be priced at 2.550.000 yen, which is approximately $21,500.

In case the Japanese automaker decides to offer the 2016 Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 globally, it is expected to come with an extended engine range. Until then, this highly reliable and efficient family hauler will be on sale in Japan only.
